Violin



Davide Alogna is considered one of the best talents on the Italian music scene. The prestigious Amadeus magazine chose him twice in the same year as a cover artist and presented two of his recording projects. His first CD (September 2013) was volume one of Franz Schubert’s complete violin and piano sonatas. The CD received wide critical acclaim, and one year later (September 2014) Amadeus published his second CD dedicated to the Italian composer Ottorino Respighi, with 2 suites for violin and piano and the Concerto all’Antica, the composer’s masterpiece that has been forgotten for more than 70 years.

Giuliano Carmignola at Accademia Chigiana, described Davide Alogna as “a great talent” and awarded him a “Degree with honours” for his interpretation of Mozart music. Alogna graduated with honours in violin and piano from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Como and obtained his master’s degree in solo violin and chamber music from the Paris Conservatory winning the prize Premier Prix a l’Unanimitè (2006). In 2009, he was given a Stradivari (1717) ”ex Heifetz” violin for a number of concerts at the RAI National TV Channel and on the occasion of several exhibitions organised by the Italian Government.

Alogna has won several national and international competitions. In 2012, he was the first violinist at the Varallo Valsesia Competition to receive a special honour for his performance of Mozart’s Violin Concerto K. 216. Alogna’s solo career began with the Prix d’Interpretation Musicale 2009 de la Citè universitaire de Paris, and in 2010 the City of Milan awarded him the Excellence Price in Music.

He has played as soloist with orchestra in some of the most important music halls in Italy and abroad such as Berliner Philarmonie, New York’s Carnegie Hall (Stern Hall), Smetana Hall and Rudolphinum in Prague, Salle Cortot in Paris, Parco della Musica in Rome, Auditorium de LaVerdi of Milan, Gasteig and Herkulesaall in Munich, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Yongsan Art Hall in Seoul, Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.

Davide Alogna performed alongside with great conductors and soloists such as Riccardo Muti, Eliau Inbal, Lior Shambadal, David Geringas, Zubin Metha, Hakan Sensoy, Natalia Gutman, Elisso Virsaladze, Shlomo Mintz, Bruno Canino, Roberto Prosseda, Alessandra Ammara, Roberto Plano, Leonora Armellini and Giulio Tampalini. His repertoire includes many concerts by Bach, Vivaldi, Viotti, Respighi, Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Bruch, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Saint Saëns, Khachaturian and many others. As a soloist, Alogna has recorded several CDs for Brillant Classics, Velut Luna, Phoenix Classics, Suonare News and Amadeus.

He is a Violin Professor at F. Cilea Conservatory of Reggio Calabria and at the Institute Superieur de Musique et Pedagogie) of Brussels. Davide Alogna plays on a precious Giuseppe Fiorini violin (Munich 1906) and a Gaspar Borchard violin (Cremona 1994).
