Hailed for his rich and powerful baritone, Mr. Gustavo Ahualli has become well known for his dramatic portrayals in a myriad of leading roles in both the standard operatic repertoire as well as new works by contemporary composers.

Since his debut in the role of Papageno in Die Zauberflote at Teatro San Martin in his native Tucuman Mr. Ahualli has appeared in productions of: Il barbiere di Siviglia, La Favorita, Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Pasquale, Don Giovanni, Le Nozze di Figaro, Cosi fan tutte, La Traviata, Don Carlos, Il Trovatore, Un Ballo in Maschera, Simon Boccanegra, Rigoletto, Macbeth, Nabucco, La Bohemè, Turandot, Madama Butterfly, Tosca, Il Tabarro, I Pagliacci, Werther, Carmen, Max and Morritz, Los Gavilanes, Luisa Fernanda, El Caserio, Bach Magnificat, Beethoveen’s 9th Symphony, Verdi Requiem, Brahms Requiem, etc. Some of the venues where Mr. Ahualli has sung include: Teatro Argentino de la Plata-Arg, Teatro Colon-Arg, Teatro Avenida-Arg, Teatro Segura-Peru, Palm Beach Opera-Fl, Sarasota Opera-Fl, Central City Opera-CO, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Westfield Symphony, New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera, Carnegie Hall-NYC, Saint Patrick Cathedral-NYC, Sacred Heart Cathedral Basilica-NJ, Wichita Grand Opera, Opera in the Heights-Houston,Teatro Lauro Rossi-Macerata,Italy, Théâtre Municipal De Castres -France, etc

An avid recitalist, Mr. Ahualli champions the Argentinean, Latin American, French and Italian Art Song Repertoire. Some other concert credits for Mr. Ahualli have included his appearance as the bass soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony as part of a service offered by Pope Benedict XVI on his 2008 visit to Yankee Stadium; Mr. Ahualli has worked with many well-known conductors, including Anton Guadagno, Julius Rudel, and Victor De Renzi, and has sung with such colleagues as Aprile Millo, Dwayne Croft, Ainoha Arteta, June Anderson, Montserrat Marti, Vladimir Chernov, Luis Lima, Victoria Livengood, Clifton Forbis, and Davide Damiani, among many others.

Recently a United States resident, Gustavo Ahualli was born in San Miguel de Tucuman, Argentina. He began his musical training at age of seven with Hilda Deniflee, a student of Kodály and Bartók. In 1998, he obtained his Master’s in singing from the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón. In 2006, he was named first-prize winner of the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera Competition. He has been for several years a bilingual cantor for Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, and for the Sacred Heart Cathedral Basilica in Newark, NJ In the academic field, he holds the position of Adjunct professor of the Voice department at the T. Rome School of Music of the Catholic University of America in Washington DC.
