Sumiko teaches in:
Violinist Sumiko Tajihi has been acclaimed widely
for her, “Every single bit of tune Sumiko creates is
like human voices”, (La stampa/Italy) “not only
passionate tone but full of warmhearted...” (Western
Journal/Japan) She appeared as a concerto soloist
with New York Symphonic Ensemble at Isaac Stern
Auditorium in Carnegie Hall on March 11th, 2007.
A native of Yamaguchi, Japan, Ms. Tajihi received her bachelor's degree from The
Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music in Nagoya, and was the first prize
winner with a special prize from the president of music association in the 12th Youth
Competition in Yamaguchi prefecture. Between 1996 and 2000, she had performed as a
member of the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, and participated in the 46th Bayreuth
Festival in Germany and the Aspen Music School and Festival in Colorado, USA. She
studied with Momoo Kishibe, Yoshiko Okayama, Naoko Tanaka and had trained with
Ronald Copes at Juilliard.
Ms. Sumiko Tajihi has given numerous performances extensively as a soloist with San
Luis Potosi Symphony Orchestra (Mexico), Shanghai Chamber Orchestra (China) and
as a chamber musician throughout the United States, Europe and her native country. In
2004, she was invited as a soloist for the International Music Festival "Velia Festival" in
Italy. In 2005, she was invited again by several International Chamber Music Festivals
in Italy and toured through Italy from Sicily, Salerno, Naples, Bologna to Milan. The
debut recital at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall in 2006 was succeeded. She
appeared as a soloist on the world greatest stage; Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall
again, and performed Violin Concerto No.1 in G minor with New York Symphonic
Ensemble in 2007. The concert with Orchestra del Conservatorio Duni di Matera at
Berlin Philharmonic Hall in 2013 was broadcasted by TRM, Italian radio television.
Since 1995, Sumiko Tajihi has been organizing the school concert every year with her
friends. The school tour is programmed to appreciating to a live classical music,
learning the structure of musical instruments and experience to play self-expression for
children. In 2004, her volunteer effort at Henry Viscardi School was broadcasted on
News 55 – WLNY.
