Alexis Vassiliev was born in North Russia, in a musical background. He lives and works in Paris since 1991.

Ever since he was a child, he has learnt to play piano, then to sing. After studying the XIXth century style, he turned towards the XVIIIth and baroque music.

With diplomas by Gnessyn Academy (Moscow), he came to France, where he worked with Régine Crespin and Victoria Cortez. He attended also some master classes, specially with Paul Esswood.

Alexis Vassiliev’s voice is closely related to mezzo, as castratos, expressive and particularly intense. Thanks to his vocal technique, he displays a repertoire which runs from XVIth to XXIst century, where appear the large extend of his tessitura, rich colours and profund artistic commitment. Concerning operas, her voice is powerful and lets imagine what could be the art of the prestigious castratos, as Senesino for exemple.

As Russian singer, Alexis Vassiliev is the only counter-tenor to have a vast repertoire of romantic melodies (Tchaikowsky, Glinka, Rachmaninov…).

He is also going forward to contemporary music.

Winner of several international awards, he gives many concerts in the world.

In June 2015, he received and award , Orphée d’or, from The Académie du disque lyrique, for his CD “Tchaïkowsky’s Secret” (Calliope/Indesens, Sacadisc/Naxos).

In 2018, he will sing the title role of Muzio Scevola (world premiere) during the Haendel Festival, in Halle.
